New Name, Same Forge
December 2025
What Happened
For years, we were Gemini Studio — a character creator built for the Gemini RPG system. The name made perfect sense. It was a studio for the Gemini game. Simple.
Then Google launched their AI product line. First came "Gemini" AI, then "Google AI Studio."
Suddenly, our little TTRPG tool shared shelf space with one of the biggest tech brands on the planet — and they noticed.
We received three separate flags on Google Play, despite having the name under contract since 2021. We could have fought it. We even considered it. But picking a legal battle with a tech giant in their own app store isn't a fight you win — it's a fight you fund until you can't anymore.
So we made the practical choice: find a better name.
Why Abraxas?
We didn't pick the new name in a vacuum. Our publisher, High Rock Press (through DOJ Inc.), was involved from the start. The community weighed in too. We wanted something that felt right — something with weight, mystery, and a connection to the game world we already love.
Abraxas fit perfectly. It's a name with roots in ancient mysticism, evocative of hidden knowledge and cosmic totality. It sounds cool. It feels like something you'd discover in an old tome, which is exactly the vibe we were going for.
And Forge? That captures what the tool actually does. You don't just fill out a form — you forge a character. You shape them, temper them, give them flaws and strengths and stories. "Abraxas Forge" says exactly what it is.
What's Changed
Honestly? Just the name and the branding. That's it.
We updated the logo, refreshed the color palette, and gave the whole thing a cosmic makeover that we think looks fantastic. But under the hood, it's the same tool built by the same team with the same mission: make character creation for tabletop RPGs as deep, intuitive, and accessible as possible.
What Stayed the Same
Everything that matters:
- Every feature — the guided wizard, power bands, export tools, all of it
- The Gemini RPG system — full support, same as always (the RPG itself was also rebranded to Abraxas)
- The team — same people, same passion, same commitment to the community
- Free to use — no account required to start creating
▎ A name is just a name. The forge burns the same.
